Updated August 2025
Learnvia at Carnegie Mellon University is committed to privacy and data protection.
In general, Learnvia obtains and uses the minimum amount of personal information deemed necessary by Learnvia to accomplish the needs of the credentialed educational process and to perform the Learnvia services and, after anonymization, be of continuing value to researchers and practitioners in evidence-based educational science and technology. In particular, Learnvia generally does not obtain user personal information beyond the user’s name and email address, which are used to access the Learnvia services and for identifying the tasks users have completed. When a user is using the Learnvia services through the user’s affiliation with the user’s institution, that affiliation is also obtained by means of that institution’s connection to Learnvia. Learnvia does not retain or use Individual user personal information in available research analytics, and every user has the ability to opt-out of inclusion in platform analytics.
Learnvia is a program under which CMU makes available certain services through the Learnvia system. As such, the Carnegie Mellon Privacy Notice, found at https://www.cmu.edu/legal/privacy-notice, applies to all personal data Learnvia collects from users, through the Learnvia website and use of the services, as well as how Learnvia and CMU use and protect that personal data.
